Fall To-Do Home Maintenance Tips

Clean Up the Yard

As the leaves start to fall, it may be tempting to just enjoy them, but it’s important to keep your yard clear.  Rake up leaves, trim back overgrown shrubs, and remove any dead plants from the garden.  Keeping your yard tidy not only improves curb appeal but also prevents pests and mold from building up.

Check Outdoor Maintenance

Fall is the perfect time to inspect the outside of our home before winter weather hits.  Clean gutters and downspouts to avoid clogs, check your roof for loose shingles, and seal cracks in your driveway or walkways.  These small steps can prevent big problems later.

Get Your Home Winter Ready

Before temperatures drop, make sure your home is prepared. Service your furnace, replace filters, and consider a chimney cleaning if you use a wood fireplace.  Check weather stripping around the doors and windows to keep drafts out and heating costs down.

Tackle Indoor Projects

With cooler weather approaching, fall is a great time to handle indoor upgrades.  Freshen up paint in high traffic areas, organize closets, and add cozy touches like rugs or curtains.  These projects help your home feel warm and inviting through the colder months.

Fall Deep Clean

Just like spring, fall is a good time for a thorough indoor clean. Wash windows to let in as much natural light as possible, vacuum under furniture, and clean ceiling fans to remove dust.  A seasonal deep clean helps your home feel fresh before holiday gatherings.
